It’s another busy week across the Twin Cities’ sports landscape.  Eric and Larry cover the festivities from the Downtown Minneapolis studios.  Among the topics this week, the guys look at the Vikings’ offseason plans, the best team in the NBA, a familiar L.A. face in a new Showtime position, and the resurgence of Gopher men’s basketball.  GDG’s own Scott Taylor parses through the Wild’s ongoing success.  Plus, Derek Hansen of Mortenson Construction details the progress of the renovations over at Target Center.

A Welcome That’s Invigorating…& Renovating

Segment 1: It was a festive week for the NCHC as they hosted their annual luncheon.  Eric and Larry attended the event and offer up what they saw (including that ongoing renovation at Target Center).  Plus, baseball returns indoors for some Twin Cities-based teams.

 

The Warriors’ Popularity & the Lakers’ Sense of Magic

Segment 2: The NBA is returning to the court after the All-Star Break.  The fellas try to figure out whether the Golden State Warriors are the hottest ticket in the league.  And Magic Johnson is already bringing change to the L.A. Lakers.

 

Vikings Assess Their Direction

Segment 3: The Vikings are still stinging from their deflating 2016 season.  GM Rick Spielman said as much, and Larry recounts the details of the discussion.  Where does the organization go from here?  And does Adrian Peterson figure anywhere in those plans?

Segment 4: The Wild continue to impress as the NHL’s regular season winds down.  Winnipeg broadcaster and GDG contributor Scott Taylor joins the show to discuss how the team continues to gear up for a playoff run.  Plus, how does he think hockey will go over in Las Vegas?

 

Building From Within: Derek Hansen Explains the Target Center Renovations

Segment 5: No matter the season, there’s always construction going on in the Twin Cities.  Right now, the Target Center is up front as far as renovation projects.  One of the people overseeing the project is Derek Hansen, project director at M. A. Mortenson Company.  He joins our show to explain the current state of the project.

 

Gophers Ready For Some Madness?

Segment 6: The Gophers men’s basketball team is starting to look really good for a return to the NCAA Tournament.  Eric and Larry look into the turnaround from a dismal 2015-2016 season.
